There wasn't a scratch on him. His left eye was black.

To see those fingers just going, as a parent, you know ... he accomplished that on his own. When he made up his mind, trying to find his place (in the world), he wouldn't give up.

He just kind of fit in, personality wise. He was funny, happy. Chandler was the kind of kid that the children always wanted around. He just was kind of the life of the party.

But they said he was going to be okay. At the same time, we were told he was going to the trauma unit.

For years, in between our short trips overseas, my husband Dave and I started talking about a different kind of trip, a long-term trip. Both of us loved the food, wine, and people of Italy, and we began talking/dreaming about someday living in Italy for an entire year. We named this dream our Beautiful Dream—our “Bel Sogno.
